HORNS

Miguel recently moved to North Carolina and passed the torch on, after more than 8 years with Milonga. Miguel also attended EWU alongside Jesse Smith, Brian Mueller, Chris Newbury, Jesse Flanagan and Peter Tijerina. He leaves the stage with many fond memories, including the time when he nearly broke his assbone on a hotel room nightstand while midget-wrestling with Mueller. Jesse Flanagan is an EWU music grad and long time friend of Miguel. He brings some great soloing chops, as well as the ability to play polished section parts. Brett Schamhl graduated from Northern Colorado University's renowned music program and brings somegreat chops to the table. His ability to play in the higher register has definitely expanded Milonga's musical vocabulary.

Nobody does it like the Mule. Brian is a graduate of EWU jazz, majoring in performance, where he met Jessie, Miguel, Chris and Peter. Brian first came to play with Milonga, introduced by Miguel, and quickly landed on all four hooves, Brian currently lives in Seattle, WA but tours regionally for Milonga and several other groups. He's an avid outdoorsman who loves pie.

Jesse is another EWU music grad, a top jazz musician locally, regionally and nationally recognized for her performances, arrangements and compositions. She currently lives in Eugene, OR with her husband, Kyle Smith (also an amazing jazz musician, avid craft brew enthusiast, and Archer fan) where she recently completed her Master's Degree in music, on a full ride to University of Oregon. Jesse recently completed a tour of high-profile Jazz Fesitvals throughout Europe with her U of O quartet.

"Buckshot" Jessie Smith - TENOR SAX

Paul graduated from University of Idaho's music program and is one of Spokane's busiest musicians, performing in a number of bands on saxes, flute, keys, and vocals. He's also an accomplished songwriter and leads his own project, Pancho's Soul Experience, in addition to performing with Real Life Rockaz (original reggae), Son Dulce (salsa cover), and Nu Jack City (Mo-Town), and Elton Jah among many other bands. Paul brings a triple threat to Milonga: ridiculous musical prowess, Spanish vocals, and stage presence.
